We were looking for a 3 hour rather than 6 hr trip and took time to chose our charter...
Alan and Geoff took us out from False Bay Yacht Club on the most amazing experience of our lives. For two elderly and experienced global travellers, Tim and I saw some great penguins, seal colonies and a 500+ pod of dolphins swimming alongside, before Tim saw some of the rare seabirds unseen apart from the currents off Cape of Good Hope.
With Geoff’s guidance to the shoals we landed some amazing tuna and decided to stop after 4, the fish being a present to our hosts.
Immaculately managed by Alan, it was hard to describe the amusing banter and care also to Tim who is partially disabled, hearing of sea wrecks and sitting back @ the yacht club thinking, did we really just do that?! Huge best wishes to Geoff on his masters in marine biology on hump backed whales, would love bring my daughter back to visit xx”
““PLENTY CATCH DURING MOM & SON DATE”
Alan & Jeff took my son (12) and me out to create a memory of our life in the South Peninsula and to actually catch some fish! The weather and views were glorious showing Cape Point from the sea side. It was a little quiet until Jeff spotted bird activity which indicated a shoal of yellowtail - the other boats soon followed but we were first bringing in 3 medium and one large yeloowtail! As we are locals, we could take the full loot home and enjoyed it on the braai (and in our freezer!).

Because the launch is from historic Simonstown, there’s the added bonus of seeing the Simonstown naval base, Boulders beach (African penguin colony) and Cape Point, all on the trip out to the fishing area.
We joined Alan for the offshore trip targetting yellowfin tuna, heading 30 miles off Cape Point. We caught 6 yellowfin tuna of around 60-70kg and 1 longfin tuna approx 7kg.
On our trip we saw seals, whales, flying fish and a huge variety of birds.
